Cognian Technologies wins with solution that transform buildings into human-centric smart spaces
SYDNEY, Australia, 14 October 2021 – Tech Data Australia, a TD SYNNEX (NYSE: SNX) company, has announced fast-growing Australian property technology company Cognian Technologies as the winner of the inaugural Tech Data IBM One Percenters Program for 2021.
Cognian’s Syncromesh Smart Canopy quickly and wirelessly converts any existing or new building into a human-centric smart building, with management of cost, carbon emissions, safety, and well-being at its core. Syncromesh enables multiple third-party sensors and devices to create a scalable IoT connectivity platform. This unified data connectivity platform enables remote and autonomous control over smart building capabilities such as access, occupant capacity, heating/cooling, air quality, emissions and lighting control.
Mark Weinstein, Head of Sales and Delivery at Cognian Technologies, stated “Cognian Technologies is thrilled to be announced as the winner of the Tech Data One Percenters program for 2021. This is a fantastic platform for us to continue to build Cognian’s brand within the IBM ecosystem. It also allows us to realise the full potential of combining the Synchromesh wireless canopy into the IBM software stack while leveraging industry-leading partners such as Red Hat and Tech Data. More-so, seeing how IBM is using smart technology to navigate the changed world for its own employees is a huge indicator of our shared values as we help companies realise the potential of smart building technology across all manner of sectors. We look forward to partnering to innovate, create mutually beneficial opportunities for customers and partners and to accelerate IoT deployments worldwide.”
Andy Berry, Vice President and Country General Manager, Tech Data ANZ, shared “I love that there is a sense of a real noble purpose underpinning Syncromesh. Cognian has formed a great partnership applying the technologies in an innovative way, with proven results. Yet Cognian also clearly identifies the role of design thinking and the One Percenters in evolving it to the next level and realising the vision that Tech Data and IBM share for this initiative”. Tech Data One Percenters is a six-month partner program that aims to uncover the best cloud solution builders leveraging IBM cloud products. Created in partnership with IBM, the Competition calls on partners to submit and pitch an innovative, commercially and technically viable cloud-based solution to address and solve a need or opportunity they have identified within their customer base.
The winner receives $30,000 worth of prizes including a personalised marketing and lead generation package to take their winning solution to market. They will also obtain access to free IBM Designed Thinking sessions to help unlock solution ideation and prototyping.
The final virtual pitch event, sponsored by Red Hat and hosted by comedian and presenter, Sam McCool, was held on Friday 24th September. The event saw five partner finalists pitch their solutions to a panel of five IBM, Red Hat and Tech Data executive judges. These solutions covered various industries including law enforcement, insurance, media and entertainment, and connectivity building. The judging criteria was based on commercial viability, technical viability, product integration and out of the box thinking.
Tech Data One Percenters is planned to make a return in 2022.
